CYFUSA Collection: Thank You! Together, We Did It!

NCYC Participants are asked to "Put Aside Five" dollars to support CYFUSA

During NCYC a very generous couple pledged a challenge donation if the participants heeded the “Put Five Aside” campaign through the Catholic Youth Foundation USA. The campaign was for the offertory collection at the closing Mass and the money goes towards scholarships for future conferences and support for youth ministry initiatives across the country.

If the NCYC participants donated $100,000 the benefactors would match their generosity. When the match donation was announced, the NCYC participants stood in an ovation, expressing their gratitude for the donors and signaling their acceptance of the challenge. Our young people donated an astounding $126,520, about 44 percent higher than any previous NCYC collection! (Read the press release. PDF Icon 15 KB)

Their heart-warming generosity was also an incredible example of stewardship—the NCYC participants were challenged to “pay it forward,” sharing their resources with those who will come after them. The young Catholic Church is a wonderful and hopeful sign that, indeed, “Christ Reigns.”

If you missed the collection bucket in Kansas City, your can still make your own donation in support of this wonderful event on our online donation page.
